On Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 8:00pm, BDU presents: “Burlesque Revival at the Folly” which will be an historic event for Kansas City and the Folly Theater. This will be the first time since the Neo-Burlesque Revival that burlesque will be presented in the Folly Theater (the “home” of burlesque in Kansas City’s "Hey-Day", and also during the city’s Red Light District history) since it closed its doors for renovation in the 1970's.
This performance will include many other professional performers and groups who will take part in this one-night-only history-making show. These troupes include: Voler, Thieves of Flight (aerial), Alacartoona (performance-art band), The Flock (clown troupe), Kansas City based jazz singer Emily Frost, burlesque comedian extraordinaire Lucky Deluxe, fire-eater Jason Divad, Shakespeare-based comedy troupe The Lord Mayor's Company, along with professional area belly dancer M'Chelle. This production will be a striking collaboration of artists from all different areas of performance genres which will fit into both the Vaudeville and popular modern niche.
